Tuesday and other stuff...

So yesterday I took our tax stuff to a preparer.  Remember it was all done except for one entry of interest from a mortgage I hold and the statements from the brokerage account.  Could they use that?  No they could not.  They have to enter every detail themselves.  I asked what it would cost.  They did not know.  I had the whole return on a stick thingy, could they use that?  No they could not.  Buggers, bet it's a bunch of bucks.  I'll let you know.  Sarge tried so hard to get it finished.

Today is canasta and poker so I'll be a busy girl.

I took the last of the chicken and the stock and made soup.  I scraped off ALL the fat.  Added some salt and angel hair pasta.  That's it.  Delicious.  Low point and wonderful on a chilly day.  Well 67 degrees but that's chilly to me.

We have a group of nutjobs here called "occupy palm beach".  They were finally forced out of the downtown area and arrested.  When the press asked them what they are protesting they said, and I quote, "You wouldn't understand, it's over your head."  Huh?  Like I said, nutjobs.

You know Sarge watched Fox News every morning.  I was getting sick of watching the blondes in short dresses, the "Fox Girls", so I started watching some of the other shows.  You know, Today, GMA, those.  Anyway I think the Fox News show is much better after all, blondes and all.  At least they are not blonde bimbos, they are smart as anything, just wear short skirts.  What do y'all watch in the mornings?

You know what is really bothering me?  When I come home and the house is empty.  That almost never happened, I'd go to cards or something and Sarge would be there when I got home.  Only when he went to the dog track did I come home to an empty house.  I turn on the tv most of the time for noise.  Sometimes when I don't I get to feeling depressed, to thinking too much.  I certainly know I am not the only one going through this  but it's sure not fun no matter what.

That's all I know today my friends, and the one who is not.  Have yourselves a lovely Tuesday, me too...

Buongiorno!
I hope you have a warm and busy Tuesday!
I listen at the radio in the kitchen in the morning and then a quick glance on the newspaper, when G. permits it!
Have a serene and warm day!

Big hugs!

Good old' chicken soup, nurturing goodness.
My eldest does our taxes which makes great sense since she's a bookkeeper and I wouldn't have the first idea of what to do!
This spring is gonna bring those stupid occupiers to a city near all of us, I'm thinking. It's not going to be pleasant.
We watch Fox in the AM. I can't handle the ABC channels any more. At least the blondes are smart - a lot of them are lawyers! I really like Meghan Kelly. She's a spitfire.
I wish you could have a kitty, darn it. It sure would help with the loneliness. Love you, Miss Bee...

I bet the accountant could use your data but if they did they wouldn't be able to charge you as much - that's the crux! Buggeration!

Your soup sounds good Bee - I like a warming soup. :)

I always have to have some background noise - TV, Radio etc even when MWM is at home otherwise I feel lonely so I empathise with you x

Well, when living in the states I watch Fox & Cnn in the morning or through the day. Now I get my news mostly online on either of their websites. I am sorry about the taxes, I would be annoyed! Hugs :)

Fred watched FOX news all morning long. I got so sick of it and usually spent most of the morning in here on my computer. Guess what? I now watch FOX news too--usually don't turn it on until 10:00, but watch until noon. Then I HAVE to watch Shepard Smith at 3:00. The hardest thing for me right now--you want to discuss the tax preparer issue with Sarge and you can't. So many things I want to talk over with Fred--the house is way too empty.

I pay my CPA a bunch, too. sigh. He does my accounting much differently than my previous CPA, who I had for nearly 20 years. I email him my General Ledger because his computer is ancient and he could figure out the thumb drive or a CD... but he can open the email OK. sigh. Then I bring him all of the 1099s, etc. It's not so bad.

I know it's not at all the same... but after being married for 21 years, almost immediately after the reality of my divorce set in I began to wonder if staying married was better than coming home to an empty house. Having gone from living with a huge family right into marriage, it was the first time in my life that I lived alone. All of that to say that it took some time and some adjustments, but it has gotten easier.

I don't watch any news any more. Rick Santorum has been calling me daily with his recorded thingy. Doesn't that make me feel so special? Not.

Big hugs xoxo

oh those tax people are just silly for not taking all of the stuff you already had!

the mom leaves the tv or radio on for us when she goes to werk. like we care. MOL. Grammie still puts on the tv so she doesn't feel lonely either - although she doesn't watch it.

Mom says she has to listen every morning to Neal Boortz. Heeheehee! And she leaves that station on for us when she goes out! The police who came to the neighborhood assoc meeting said it was a good idea to leave a radio or tv on when you left home.
We are sending you our daily furry hug.

Fox news makes me upset. It's too right winged, I need more balance so I don't usually watch the news on television. I read what news is important online.

No tv here in the mornings. Way to rushed and a big distraction trying to get 3 kids out the door for school. I have a tv in my bedroom and it is not even plugged into the wall. I would never get out of bed if I turned it on.

Well every tax preparer has their own way of doing taxes. Okay, I'm being kind here. I don't know, but it seems that most everything was done. Hubby does our taxes too and he uses TurboTax. We don't have much so having an accountant just wouldn't make sense.

I'm sorry that you're having a hard time coming home to an empty house. I just can't imagine and I've lived alone for many years before Zane and I got together. I didn't have a big whole in my heart though.

Have a terrific day honey. Big hugs from very windy and cold California. :)

If you're tired of TV in the background, have you thought of finding a podcast you may like in iTunes? Sometimes I listen to podcasts about knitting or spinning when I'm engaged in one of those activities. I listen to one spinning podcast because I like learning about different sheep and also how to spin their very different fibers. The narrator has a voice as smooth as honey and her podcast is free.

That empty house is the pits, especially since you know that now it always will be just that--empty. That Sarge left a hole everywhere.

Not surprising on that tax preparer not using your info as is. Buggers to that.

Fox News fans here for sure.

I can do w/o all this wind! Big hugs from up the road, honey...

Dear Bee,
It isn't fun, and no matter who else is going through it, it doesn't change the loneliness of coming home to a home without Sarge there. ((hugs))

Preparers sounds like he wanst to charge you $$. Don't really like that.

He certainly should have been able to give you an estimate, either by telling you what he charges per hour and how mcuh a retunr like this usually involves time wise -- or a flat fee.

Hope he is trustworthy and does a good job.

Maybe you might want to ask around for someone else next year, just in case. See if you can find someone who has used that accountant for ten years and he or she has been wonderful.

The chicken broth with angel hair sounds good:)

Hello Bee, I just found your site today. I really like it. I am sorry for your loss of a loved one. I am with you on some of the news shows...some are way opionated. I also hate the on and on of Lindsey Lohan, who gives a hoot. That's the today show fodder.I absolutely love cruises too. My favorite was not in the gulf, but out of New York in to Nove Scotia. Have fun on the one you choose. Smiles to you, Susie(She Junks)

Hi Ms Bee!

You know it's really weird. I found Sarge's blog on the day that he said goodbye and then could not get back to find YOUR blog. Anyway, my heart aches for you because I know there is a depth to your loneliness that only you know.

I hope you have a wonderful day and I am your newest follower. xo Diana

ps. I lived in Palm Beach Gardens for several years and wish I lived there again...except all my kids and grands are here.

I think you used that photo before and after seeing it I want to move there ! ! !

I have lived alone a lot of my life and in the later years of my marriage it was like I was living alone anyways but with a horrible person(my x) in the home with me. So right now even though I am in very bad health I like living alone. I am much happier.
Plus I have children who come and live with me off and on and The Two Square Dogs !
For you who had your wonderful Sarge around it is very different but for me I like the quiet.

cheers, parsnip

I can't hardly watch any of anymore. I have been a fox kind of person, but all these women looking like I don't know what(actually I do). It's ridiculousness. Be professional, good grief. I watch Robin sometimes cause it is usually shorter stories. I see why you would want the noise though. Many blessings Miss Bee

i like to watch movies and tv shows on netflix. i read my news online; watching the news on tv just stresses me out.

i'm still not used to matt being home yet, but i remember at the beginning of deployments when matt was gone, i would come home to an empty house, lay on the floor, and just cry until i was so tired. then i'd usually take a shower and fall asleep early.

You are not coming home to an empty house. It is full of memories. Sometimes you just have to work harder to think of them in the sad moments.

Sending hugs.
