It is seriously beautiful here y'all, in the low 80's and sunny. Couldn't love it more! The a/c is going full blast!
So what is so busy about today you ask? Well first up it's my day to see Dr. Wacks. Then I have lunch at the club and canasta. That woman I call Kaye (because that is her name) will be here with Sarge and she will make him a nice lunch, whatever he wants.
Then tonight I have a professional cleaning service coming to talk to me about coming several times a month. I haven't talked much about this but Kaye is 78 and there are lots of things she just can't do. She still wants to work so there are lots of things she can do so we'll try this with her coming only once a week now. Hopefully it will work out for everyone. We'll see. Cross your fingers. I don't want to hurt her for the world but right now I need a clean house.
I just keep thinking about those poor people from that Costa ship. My heart breaks for them. There is no way in the world this should have happened. I think the charges against the captain are not nearly enough. All Carnival captains are Italian and they are wonderful, elegant, the exact person you would imagine of such a position. This guy is a dirtbag and does not deserve the title.
I am going to try to relax at canasta today. It's the only game I have this week and I need the time with the girls. I sure did enjoy the day off yesterday though. I just hate that it came on a MahJong game day.
Have a lovely Thursday y'all. I know I will.

18 notes:
After listening to the audio and reading the transcript, I have to say that his was quite cowardly... very un-Captain-like. I still haven't heard anything yet about why they were so close to shore. I imagine a full-scale investigation will be done to determine the actual cause of them running aground.
I've looked a few times for a cleaning service. There is nothing near here, other than commercial or people who advertise on Craigslist. Good grief. I miss having a weekly cleaning lady something awful. I should move that up on my priority list. srsly.
I had no idea Kaye was 78! Good for her for staying busy!
Enjoy your day! Big hugs xoxo
Buongiorno!
Have a good appointment with Dr W.
The Costa tragedy and the " un-Captain" are a great sorrow for us, I hope the truth comes out...
Have an amazing Thursday with the girls!
Big hugs!
I find it so ridiculous that the captain now says he tripped and fell into the life boat...WTF?? Idiot. The whole thing is disgusting. I hope you have a nice slow day, hugs!
Hope your appointment goes well.
Have fun at canasta!
Wow, I'd love to have someone clean my house! Some day...
For some reason I pictured Kaye in her 50s. Doting on Sarge like he was her Dad, taking care of such a kind soul because she is one. God bless her for working at the age she is. I bet its keeping her young. My grandma is 87 and I worry that without having my cousin there to take care of, she'd be gone. I think its great you want to still let Kaye feel needed. But I can completely understand needing a clean house, especially with Sarge's breathing trouble, you can't afford to let dust accumulate. Hope it works out well.
Enjoy your relaxing day, good luck. I hope the cards go your way. Wait... canasta is cards right? lol.
At 78 I imagine Kaye may be ready to retire from cleaning. Maybe she would just like to come in occasionally to cook lunch for Sarge and keep him company whilst you're out?
The reports of the cruise liner accident here are saying the Captain jumped ship before everyone was off!
I didn't know Kaye was that old either. Wow. I agree that deep cleaning is for the young, not us older folks.
Yes it does sound like the Costa captain is a coward. I've worked with a few like that and they never last long. I understand about hanging in there and assisting when the stuff hits the fan. I've been the last out more than once. Wouldn't have had it any other way.
Have a terrific day honey. I'll try to hit an Internet cafe here and there and approve my good comments. I get so much spam that I didn't have any other choice than to moderate my comments. Love you and Sarge bunches. Hugs. :)
I read an editorial in the paper this morning that suggested that we need cowards like the "un-Captain" to remind us just how special our heroes really are. For my part, I prefer my receiving my lessons in a less dramatic fashion.
Enjoy your canasta today.
Hugs, Bee... Hope the cleaning thing works out. I agree Akelamalu, about using her in a different way to keep her feeling "wanted". Sounds like a good partnership budding there...
Have a great day, dear!
I love the idea of ac going full blast! It seems so far removed from my world today! We are enjoying the quiet of a major power outage in the whole of western Washington due to freezing rain on top of near record snow fall. I absolutely love this weather, probably as much as you love your sunshine! It doesn't happen all that often, not even once a year, so I guess it is easy to love. Enjoy your sunshine today! I'll be thinkin' of you as I sip my hot cocoa!
Tell us about how the interview with the cleaning company works out. That is something I have to look into this year.... really don't like having people I don't know in my home. I have had cleaners in my other homes but.....
Enjoy your lunch and card game today,
so much fun !
cheers, parsnip
Glad you found a cleaning sv that will hopefully work out well. We both know that Kaye needs to retire, for pete's sake! Sheesh!
We have our windows all open, enjoying the lovely breeze.
The news just keeps getting worse for that un-captain. I feel soo sorry for the families affected, and for the whole of Italy that this scumbag has blighted. He alone is responsible for his actions and non-actions.
Stepping down. Big hugs, honey...
Great minds think alike. My cleaning lady is the sweetest. She used to babysit my kids (they are too big for that now) and she is so nice. That being said, not the best cleaner. I hire a service from time to time. They are quick and good and do great heavy duty cleaning.
80? Sunny? Holy smokes I'm green with envy. It's 21 degrees here with a windchill in the nether regions. Going down to 9 tonight and will then snow upon us all. Woe is me.
That captain IS a dirtbag.
I've been thinking about the Costa accident every day as well. It's going to hurt the cruise industry, you know. I'm booking my fall cruise soon, cause I'm not scared :)
Have fun with the girls!
Bee -
As I read about the actions of the Captain of the Costa Concordia, I am reminded of our cruise on the last Caribbean voyage of the (then) smokefree Paradise.
We arrived in Miami, knowing that there was an upset lady named Francis out in the Atlantic. Got to Nassau and came back on board to discover that Francis had turned our Exotic Eastern Caribbean cruise into a western excursion.
No complaints here - although some passengers complained (there are always some), I made it a point to thank the Captain when I saw him for thinking of my safety first.
Only cruise we have ever been on that was truly affected by the weather - been in rough seas, but Cozumel/Grand Cayman are not San Juan/St. Thomas.
Sadly, this Captain did not espouse the true courage of his breed - to go down with the ship or be the last person off.
Disturbing, to say the least.
Jon
By this Captain, I mean the Costa Captain.
I wish it was in the 80's here. I'm freezing! I really need to get up and find a sweatshirt or something.
