Sarge gets tossed...

So it's Saturday and we're all having fun, right?  Well everyone but Sarge.  He got tossed out of the WalMart!  Yup, you read that right.  Here's the story:  About a week ago he buys a new Water Pik from the local WalMart.  He brings it home and charges it up and happily uses it for about four days.  Then it won't work any more.  It won't charge, nothing.  Dead as a doornail.  So he says to himself, self?  I'll just return it, the WalMart will take anything back, that's their motto so off we go.

Now luckily for me my hip was hurting so I stayed in the car.  I say luckily because I sure wouldn't have wanted to be there when he went "off" on 'em.

He goes up to the counter and the lady says where is the box?  He didn't save the box.  Who does that?  Then she says where is the receipt?  Who saves those either?  Remember this thing worked for a while, right?

Then she makes her fatal mistake.  She tells him "no tickey, no laundry"...  No she did not!  Yes she did.  He quoted their policy to her.  He asked for a manager.  She said she was the floor manager.  Really?  She says no no no exchange.  He asks nicely and tries to rationalize with her for a bit.  She's having none of it.

Now he's starting to boil over at this point and I suppose I don't blame him but I would have handled it differently.  What did he do?  He threw the thing.  She called the (WalMart) cops.  He got bounced.

So he comes out to the car and tells me this and right away I have the answer.  Just buy another one, get the receipt and the box, put the old one in it and return the thing.  So that's what we did.  Luckily we have four WalMarts in our local area.  The end.

Have a lovely Saturday, I know I will.

no tickey, no laundry"

Those were her words? That's incredibly racist for anyone to say.

I'm glad you came up with a reasonable solution, but I'd still be writing Walmart a letter.

ummmmmmmm, which walmart? I wont be taking the ol sarge back there this sunday!

PS great story, heres a blast from the past.... sarge took me to mcdonalds when I was about ten. took them too long to make the food so he was asked to pull forward from the drive thru. well ten minutes later they brought out the bag and he was mad. he looked in and the order was wrong... yup you guessed it he went inside and... ummmm........ threw the bag at the lady. TRUE STORY I SWEAR!!!!
I still love him

Most interesting! I can see why they would have an issue, especially when he threw it,but she could have been a lady too! Hugs :)

What a day! What would you have done if you were with him when it happened? I am glad it was worked out in the end.

Bee, that is just what I would also have done. Easy peasy. I'll be looking for his 'banned' photo on the WM door this winter! Make sure he wears his wig next time.

Thanks for the smiles. Big hugs, honey...

Have you ever had anyone piss you off? I did throw it but I threw it into my cart, should have thrown it at her.......

I did tell her I am not impressed with her management skills....

Only we sneaky women would know how to handle this--good job!!!

Way to go Charlie. Give them hell. The attitude that some people have today. When I go to Walmart in Amherstburg in the future if they act snotty I'll think of you Charlie.
Are you feeling better Bee? We brought mom home yesterday. She's feeling better and so are we. See you.

Good solution, Bee.

You are lucky you stayed in the car and missed all that!

All's well that ends well.

Hope your hip is feeling better today.

Enjoy your Saturday!

My lovely but a bit tempermental (Ha! That's a joke!) ex-husband is no longer welcome at the Verizon store out in Nevada where he now resides for having thrown his cellphone -a non-functioning unit -at an employee there too, along with calling the clerk many names about parentage and telling said clerk to do several things, mostly physically impossible to do! Don't know who he has his current cellphone with now -not that I care -but just saying...

That was a brilliant solution, Bee, to the WalMart problem. I would never have thought of it. Better get me some fish oil, I think.

I dislike and have huge issues with walmart that I will never shop in one again.

I guess if I lived in the middle of no-where and that was the only and I mean only store ? ? ?

But....
They move into an area put out of business the local shops, drain the economy and the workers are kept at salaries that they can barley live on with no sort of health insurance.... and women are treated like a disposable resource.

A big NO Thanks.

The fact that much of the items people buy in there from stuff they really don't need to cheap clothes, how many pairs of jeans do teens need, are made by slave and political prisoners or in sweat shops in China is a huge turn off for me.
But a big factor is the store makes me sick....
When Daughter was in High School we had to get a item that was listed at walmart... The second I walked in the store I started to cough by the time we got out I was sweating and could hardly breath. We think it wad the bug spray they spray the clothes with, the clothes from China, that are at the front of the store.
We tried to go another time to look for something I walked in and again the smell overpower me so we left. Never walked in the store again.

If I need something I can't find other places then I figure I can do with out.

Sarge's treatment is just another example of why I don't shop at walmart.

Wow, A super rant...I guess I need or have taken too much fish oil today !

cheers, parsnip

Your solution to the problem was something I never would have thought of.....a great example of sideways thinking. I will keep it in mind, Bee. I would be very happy not to have gone inside with Sarge...I am totally non-confrontational. Sarge is such a sweetie that this really surprises me, but we love him for his strong character anyway.

Somehow I can see myself doing exactly what Sarge did! Sometimes my fuse is just a little too short so I'd be joining Sarge in being asked to remove myself from the store by the WalMart security folks. Brilliant idea on your part, though, and good thing there are WalMarts a'plenty! As long as Sarge's picture isn't posted on the list of WalMart offenders he can still go there if he needs to.

How's your hip doing? Better I hope!

Hi Miss Bee,

Fantastic solution!

Bee, I love your solution! And if Sarge just threw it into the cart, that poor excuse for a manager got off quite easily. Good thing you live where there are several WalMarts. :-) Hugs...

Bee,
Your solution is similar to a problem I had at Penney's once. Only I told them upfront what I was going to do so why not save us all some time and fix the problem now. They did...

Oh boy, I'm not sure which side I'm on here. I used to work the exchange desk at my first job...that was NOT fun and I totally understand why they couldn't take it back. But still, that was a rude way or going about refusing the exchange.

Ooops, lucky Sarge has you. ;)

Hi, that made me laugh.....Thx for the chuckle - it just got me out of my sad mood.

Aww. I hate it when people are snotty. Sarge deserves better. Great solution and one I would have done too, that is if I thought of it.
Love you!

I returned a broken toaster, 1 week it quits. Thankfully I still have box & receipt, I return the clerk flips out that I don't have the instructions for the toaster. Meanwhile I watch her take an air conditioner back with no box or instructions, he does have a receipt, she asks or makes no statements but gives him his money back. I'm confused,I must show it on my face, she decided that she'd refund me my $10.00 for the toaster, like she was doing me this huge favor. I don't really like shopping at walmart any longer due to that behavior at the return. Shop KMart, they have a great return policy.

I also do not keep boxes and receipts. It always seems like the super tidy people in my life, the first to acuse me of saving too much stuff are the ones who do and wonder why I don't. Really? Why should I save a box, when I don't ever expect to put the item back in it?

I woulda tossed it at her head. Okay maybe not,... but I woulda wished I could.
