Updates and Snickerdoodles!

UPDATE: Home from the dentist and it was not too bad. She was amazing actually, the root canal was done with a microscope and I could see it. No pain at all. No, really. (smile) Now it is time to bake!!!

Well this morning I have a lovely three hour appointment at the DENTIST for a root canal. Nice. For any cats reading this, it is the same thing as a V E T only lots worse. They have tools that sound like jet engines in your brain. But then - - - - -

I have made the dough for the Snickerdoodles and they will be baked later today! Sarge will help, he always does the actual baking, I just have to do the rolling into balls. This photo is not mine, but will have some later... Now for the post on SNICKERDOODLES:

Since my post where I talked about Snickerdoodles I thought I'd mention that some of you said you love them and some of you have never heard of them. Since they are our very favorite cookie ever I thought you might like the recipe. This one has been tried and true in our house. You want the cracks in them and you want them crispy too! So here you go...

1 1/2 Cups Sugar
1/2 Cup Softened butter
1/2 Cup Shortening
2 Eggs
2 3/4 Cups all purpose flour
2 Teaspoons cream of tarter
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
____________________________
1/4 Cup sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
____________________________
Mix 1 1/2 cups sugar, butter, shortening, and eggs in a large bowl. Stir in flour, cream of tarter, salt, and baking soda. Chill dough about a half hour or more. Roll into 1 inch balls. Mix 1/4 cup sugar and 2 teaspoons cinnamon and roll balls in mixture. Place 2 inches apart on cookie sheet. Slightly mash with fingers to flatten a little. Bake at 400 degrees f. 8-10 minutes or until set. Cool. Store tightly covered to keep them crisp. We usually make a double batch. They smell heavenly when they are baking.

Snickerdoodles, YUM!

I am sorry you have to go to the dentist. I hate teeths. They cause nothing but problems. I hope it is not too terrible for you.

Well, Miss Bee, I don't know nuthin' 'bout no recipes -- but I sure do like the sound of the word "snickerdoodle."

Indeed, I may be repeating it all day.

I have written down the recipe to give it a try - I love anything with cinnamon on or her in it.

Glad the dentist is over and done with and hope your feeling a bit more like yourself generally.
