Sarge has been eating them all his life and loves them. Today we went on a little trip and stopped in to get him some.
So we drive to Elijay which is not the closest place to get a fried pie actually, but it has the ones he likes the best.
Now these are regular "baked" pies. Not the same thing at all!
This antique cash register is still in use. It is beautiful! Sarge doesn't care, he only has eyes for pies.
He doesn't even want a coke from this cooler that is still in use by the way.
He loves apple butter but has not today!
Off to the counter with the fried pies he goes.
Finally! here they are...
Does he look happy? He bought a dozen and ate one before he got back in the car.

I got to tell you them are some good fried apple pies, yep made with sun dried apples and it just will not get any better than this........
Oh Bee, that place looks GREAT. I love places like that. and oh the pies...mmmmm
those look WONDERFUL. do they have recipes available? - Meezer Mom
Fried pies? Is that a southern thing? I've never heard of fried pies, but they sound like they should be just as good as regular pies.
Those look delicious!
I love me some fried pies. Can y'all send some to me? Yum!
I love fried pies!
I know they're not the same, but here in Phoenix they have somethings similar, called empanadas, sold in mostly Mexican bakeries.
Rather than fried though, they're baked, but the filling and the dough is almost the same.
I'm glad they don't sell any over here, I'm too big as it is.
That looks like a fabulous place! Fried pies eh? Never had one, but they sure look delicious! :-)
When I saw your post last night with the picture of the dried apples, the first place that I thought of was Elijay. But when you said 219 miles, I figured Elijay wasn't that far away - guess you took the scenic route.
I love fried pies. Sarge sure looks happy!
We'll have to take a trip up there some time.
Oh my goodness. My mouth is watering as I read this. Hubbie and I are definitely having one of those next time we are in the US. Christine
those fried pies look scrumptious -
And it sounds like a "fun" time was had by all. I just read Sarge's post about the rest of your afternoon.
You guys are too funny.
My oh my that looks like a lot of places around here. It's nice to be in the south, isn't it?
Hubby Hank and I may have to make a road trip this weekend... fried pies...MMMMMMMM!
So we went to Sarge's post and got the "rest of the story". Glad Sarge is ok. What I was left wondering though, I guess he had to drive the rest of the way home with his wet pants, and was there a new stain on the car seat???
Luf, Maw
I've nefur had pie an my beans hafn't had fried pie, but it looks good! A bad joke: Is Sarge now Pie-Eyed?
And what's the line about Pie in the Sky?

That sounds so good.
They are healthy too aren't they. It's that word "FRIED" that has me asking this question. Have a great day and thanks for the great photos here. I loved the old coke machine. I remember those. Bottles too! :)
